Barangay Abatan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Abatan is one of the administrative divisions of Hungduan in Ifugao, CAR, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Abatan had a population of 857. This made it the 5th largest of 9 barangays in Hungduan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Abatan accounted for approximately 9.67% of the total population of Hungduan, which stood at 8,866 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 883 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 857 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -2.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Abatan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hungduan is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Abatan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ifugao, which contains 176 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Abatan ranks 106th by 2020 population.
