Barangay Laguinbanua

Situated in Ibajay, Aklan, Barangay Laguinbanua is one of 35 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Laguinbanua had a population of 3,233. This made it the 2nd largest of 35 barangays in Ibajay by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Laguinbanua accounted for approximately 6.17% of the total population of Ibajay, which stood at 52,364 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,226 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,233 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.2%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Laguinbanua is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Ibajay is a municipality comprising 35 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Laguinbanua, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Aklan, which contains 327 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Laguinbanua ranks 41st by 2020 population. Barangay Laguinbanua is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
