Barangay Bobontugan

Barangay Bobontugan is a large barangay in the municipality of Jasaan, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bobontugan had a population of 6,849. This made it the 1st largest of 15 barangays in Jasaan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bobontugan accounted for approximately 12.00% of the total population of Jasaan, which stood at 57,055 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 6,055 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 6,849 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +13.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bobontugan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Jasaan is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bobontugan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Oriental, which contains 504 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bobontugan ranks 21st by 2020 population. Barangay Bobontugan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
