Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal

Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal is a small barangay in the municipality of Katipunan, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Norte, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal had a population of 1,409. This made it the 13th largest of 30 barangays in Katipunan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal accounted for approximately 3.15% of the total population of Katipunan, which stood at 44,661 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal moving from 1,384 residents to 1,409 residents, an intercensal change of +1.8%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Katipunan is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dr. Jose Rizal, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
