Barangay Bokong

Barangay Bokong is a small barangay in the municipality of Labangan, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bokong had a population of 1,735. This made it the 13th largest of 25 barangays in Labangan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bokong accounted for approximately 3.92% of the total population of Labangan, which stood at 44,262 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bokong moving from 1,653 residents to 1,735 residents, an intercensal change of +5.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Bokong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Labangan is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bokong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
