Barangay Ban-as

Barangay Ban-as is a small barangay in the municipality of Lianga, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ban-as had a population of 1,804. This made it the 8th largest of 13 barangays in Lianga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ban-as accounted for approximately 5.33% of the total population of Lianga, which stood at 33,869 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ban-as moving from 1,618 residents to 1,804 residents, an intercensal change of +11.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Ban-as is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
