Barangay Ibabang Sungi

Barangay Ibabang Sungi is a very small barangay in the municipality of Liliw, located in the province of Laguna, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ibabang Sungi had a population of 216. This made it the 28th largest of 33 barangays in Liliw by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ibabang Sungi accounted for approximately 0.55% of the total population of Liliw, which stood at 39,491 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Ibabang Sungi changed from 207 to 216, a shift of +4.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Liliw. Barangay Ibabang Sungi is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Liliw is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ibabang Sungi, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Laguna, which contains 681 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Ibabang Sungi ranks 642nd by 2020 population. Barangay Ibabang Sungi is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
