Barangay Balatucan

Situated in Looc, Romblon, Barangay Balatucan is one of 12 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balatucan had a population of 1,077. This made it the 12th largest of 12 barangays in Looc by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balatucan accounted for approximately 4.94% of the total population of Looc, which stood at 21,799 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,088 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,077 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.0%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balatucan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Looc is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balatucan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Romblon, which contains 219 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Balatucan ranks 132nd by 2020 population.
