Barangay Malayan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Malayan is one of the administrative divisions of M'lang in Cotabato, SOCCSKSARGEN, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malayan had a population of 944. This made it the 35th largest of 37 barangays in M'lang by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malayan accounted for approximately 0.96% of the total population of M'lang, which stood at 98,195 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malayan moving from 1,406 residents to 944 residents, an intercensal change of -32.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Malayan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

M'lang is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malayan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cotabato, which contains 543 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Malayan ranks 437th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
