Barangay Calawag

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Calawag is one of the administrative divisions of Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro, MIMAROPA Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Calawag had a population of 1,089. This made it the 12th largest of 12 barangays in Magsaysay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calawag accounted for approximately 2.74% of the total population of Magsaysay, which stood at 39,767 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Calawag changed from 1,055 to 1,089, a shift of +3.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Magsaysay. Barangay Calawag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Magsaysay is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Calawag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
