Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion forms part of Mahinog, a municipality in Camiguin, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 3,030. This made it the 1st largest of 13 barangays in Mahinog by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 20.71% of the total population of Mahinog, which stood at 14,634 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,932 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,030 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +3.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Mahinog is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Camiguin, which contains 58 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 6th by 2020 population. Camiguin is classified as a 5th by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Poblacion is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
