Barangay Waig

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Waig is one of the administrative divisions of Malasiqui in Pangasinan, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Waig had a population of 1,037. This made it the 62nd largest of 73 barangays in Malasiqui by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Waig accounted for approximately 0.72% of the total population of Malasiqui, which stood at 143,094 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,022 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,037 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.5%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Waig is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malasiqui is a municipality comprising 73 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Waig, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Pangasinan, which contains 1,364 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Waig ranks 1154th by 2020 population.
