Barangay Cantamuac

Situated in Malitbog, Southern Leyte, Barangay Cantamuac is one of 37 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cantamuac had a population of 545. This made it the 16th largest of 37 barangays in Malitbog by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cantamuac accounted for approximately 2.34% of the total population of Malitbog, which stood at 23,256 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cantamuac moving from 540 residents to 545 residents, an intercensal change of +0.9%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. Barangay Cantamuac is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malitbog is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cantamuac, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
