Barangay Ponglo-Muelag

Barangay Ponglo-Muelag is a small barangay in the municipality of Mangatarem, located in the province of Pangasinan, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ponglo-Muelag had a population of 589. This made it the 61st largest of 82 barangays in Mangatarem by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ponglo-Muelag accounted for approximately 0.74% of the total population of Mangatarem, which stood at 79,323 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Ponglo-Muelag changed from 520 to 589, a shift of +13.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Mangatarem. Barangay Ponglo-Muelag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mangatarem is a municipality comprising 82 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ponglo-Muelag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
