Barangay Linay

Situated in Manukan, Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Linay is one of 22 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Linay had a population of 1,493. This made it the 11th largest of 22 barangays in Manukan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Linay accounted for approximately 4.05% of the total population of Manukan, which stood at 36,887 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Linay changed from 1,490 to 1,493, a shift of +0.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Manukan. Barangay Linay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Manukan is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Linay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Norte, which contains 691 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Linay ranks 236th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
