Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Mapandan, located in the province of Pangasinan, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 3,622. This made it the 5th largest of 15 barangays in Mapandan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 9.52% of the total population of Mapandan, which stood at 38,058 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 3,714 residents to 3,622 residents, an intercensal change of -2.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Mapandan is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
