Barangay Binalayan West

Barangay Binalayan West is a very small barangay in the municipality of Maripipi, located in the province of Biliran, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Binalayan West had a population of 429. This made it the 7th largest of 15 barangays in Maripipi by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Binalayan West accounted for approximately 6.73% of the total population of Maripipi, which stood at 6,373 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 509 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 429 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -15.7%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Binalayan West is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Maripipi is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Binalayan West, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Biliran, which contains 132 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Binalayan West ranks 116th by 2020 population. Biliran is classified as a 4th by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections.
