Barangay Balas

Situated in Mexico, Pampanga, Barangay Balas is one of 43 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Balas had a population of 2,638. This made it the 29th largest of 43 barangays in Mexico by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balas accounted for approximately 1.52% of the total population of Mexico, which stood at 173,403 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,690 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,638 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.9%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. Barangay Balas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
