Barangay Chitongco (Pob.)

Barangay Chitongco (Pob.) is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Mondragon, located in the province of Northern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Chitongco (Pob.) had a population of 3,871. This made it the 3rd largest of 24 barangays in Mondragon by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Chitongco (Pob.) accounted for approximately 9.35% of the total population of Mondragon, which stood at 41,415 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Chitongco (Pob.) moving from 3,671 residents to 3,871 residents, an intercensal change of +5.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Chitongco (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mondragon is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Chitongco (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
