This made it the 28th largest of 28 barangays in Mulanay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bagong Silang accounted for approximately 0.51% of the total population of Mulanay, which stood at 55,576 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 336 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 286 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -14.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Bagong Silang is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
