Barangay Matapol

Barangay Matapol forms part of Norala, a municipality in South Cotabato, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Matapol had a population of 1,711. This made it the 13th largest of 14 barangays in Norala by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matapol accounted for approximately 3.67% of the total population of Norala, which stood at 46,682 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Matapol moving from 1,774 residents to 1,711 residents, an intercensal change of -3.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Matapol is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Norala is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matapol, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
