Situated in Norzagaray, Bulacan, Barangay Bitungol is one of 13 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bitungol had a population of 18,427. This made it the 2nd largest of 13 barangays in Norzagaray by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bitungol accounted for approximately 13.54% of the total population of Norzagaray, which stood at 136,064 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bitungol changed from 10,177 to 18,427, a shift of +81.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Norzagaray. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bitungol as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Norzagaray is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bitungol, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
