Barangay Oracon Sur

Barangay Oracon Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Nueva Valencia, located in the province of Guimaras, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Oracon Sur had a population of 1,973. This made it the 8th largest of 22 barangays in Nueva Valencia by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Oracon Sur accounted for approximately 4.61% of the total population of Nueva Valencia, which stood at 42,771 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Oracon Sur moving from 1,837 residents to 1,973 residents, an intercensal change of +7.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Oracon Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Nueva Valencia is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Oracon Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
