Barangay Bontod

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Bontod is one of the administrative divisions of Palanas in Masbate, Bicol Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bontod had a population of 1,117. This made it the 8th largest of 24 barangays in Palanas by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bontod accounted for approximately 4.09% of the total population of Palanas, which stood at 27,322 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bontod moving from 1,265 residents to 1,117 residents, an intercensal change of -11.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bontod as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Palanas is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bontod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
