Barangay Poblacion Sur

Situated in Paracale, Camarines Norte, Barangay Poblacion Sur is one of 27 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion Sur had a population of 1,737. This made it the 13th largest of 27 barangays in Paracale by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Sur accounted for approximately 2.89% of the total population of Paracale, which stood at 60,198 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,932 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,737 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -10.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Poblacion Sur is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Paracale is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Camarines Norte, which contains 282 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion Sur ranks 143rd by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
