Barangay Minarog

Barangay Minarog is a very small barangay in the municipality of Paranas, located in the province of Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Minarog had a population of 481. This made it the 25th largest of 44 barangays in Paranas by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Minarog accounted for approximately 1.49% of the total population of Paranas, which stood at 32,374 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Minarog moving from 570 residents to 481 residents, an intercensal change of -15.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Minarog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Paranas is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Minarog, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
