Barangay Ponod

Barangay Ponod is a small barangay in the municipality of Pintuyan, located in the province of Southern Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Ponod had a population of 698. This made it the 2nd largest of 23 barangays in Pintuyan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ponod accounted for approximately 6.84% of the total population of Pintuyan, which stood at 10,202 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ponod moving from 600 residents to 698 residents, an intercensal change of +16.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Ponod is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pintuyan is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Ponod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
