Situated in Pitogo, Quezon, Barangay Cawayanin is one of 39 barangays that make up the municipality within CALABARZON.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cawayanin had a population of 710. This made it the 14th largest of 39 barangays in Pitogo by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cawayanin accounted for approximately 3.11% of the total population of Pitogo, which stood at 22,798 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 766 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 710 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -7.3%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cawayanin as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
