Barangay Tanauan

Barangay Tanauan is a small barangay in the municipality of Plaridel, located in the province of Quezon, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tanauan had a population of 1,811. This made it the 1st largest of 9 barangays in Plaridel by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tanauan accounted for approximately 17.88% of the total population of Plaridel, which stood at 10,129 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Tanauan changed from 1,876 to 1,811, a shift of -3.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Plaridel. Barangay Tanauan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Plaridel is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tanauan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
