Barangay Cahaguichican

Barangay Cahaguichican is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Pototan, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cahaguichican had a population of 2,002. This made it the 11th largest of 50 barangays in Pototan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cahaguichican accounted for approximately 2.56% of the total population of Pototan, which stood at 78,298 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cahaguichican moving from 1,895 residents to 2,002 residents, an intercensal change of +5.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cahaguichican as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pototan is a municipality comprising 50 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cahaguichican, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
