Barangay Nagtagaan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Nagtagaan is one of the administrative divisions of Rosario in La Union, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Nagtagaan had a population of 2,071. This made it the 12th largest of 33 barangays in Rosario by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nagtagaan accounted for approximately 3.44% of the total population of Rosario, which stood at 60,278 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Nagtagaan moving from 1,919 residents to 2,071 residents, an intercensal change of +7.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Nagtagaan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Rosario is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nagtagaan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of La Union, which contains 576 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Nagtagaan ranks 96th by 2020 population.
