Barangay Maligcong

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Maligcong is one of the administrative divisions of Salcedo in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Maligcong had a population of 299. This made it the 15th largest of 21 barangays in Salcedo by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maligcong accounted for approximately 2.69% of the total population of Salcedo, which stood at 11,110 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Maligcong moving from 323 residents to 299 residents, an intercensal change of -7.4%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Maligcong as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Salcedo is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maligcong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
