Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of San Jose, located in the province of Romblon, in the MIMAROPA Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 3,958. This made it the 1st largest of 5 barangays in San Jose by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 33.66% of the total population of San Jose, which stood at 11,759 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 3,398 to 3,958, a shift of +16.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in San Jose. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Jose is a municipality comprising 5 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
