Barangay Santa Monica

Situated in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Barangay Santa Monica is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Santa Monica had a population of 2,205. This made it the 5th largest of 24 barangays in San Nicolas by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santa Monica accounted for approximately 5.67% of the total population of San Nicolas, which stood at 38,895 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,001 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,205 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Santa Monica is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
