Barangay Sapang Pahalang

Barangay Sapang Pahalang is a small barangay in the municipality of San Rafael, located in the province of Bulacan, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sapang Pahalang had a population of 926. This made it the 32nd largest of 34 barangays in San Rafael by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sapang Pahalang accounted for approximately 0.90% of the total population of San Rafael, which stood at 103,097 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Sapang Pahalang moving from 822 residents to 926 residents, an intercensal change of +12.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sapang Pahalang as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Rafael is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sapang Pahalang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
