Barangay Cabunga-an

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Cabunga-an is one of the administrative divisions of San Remigio in Antique, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cabunga-an had a population of 482. This made it the 37th largest of 45 barangays in San Remigio by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cabunga-an accounted for approximately 1.42% of the total population of San Remigio, which stood at 34,045 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cabunga-an changed from 457 to 482, a shift of +5.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in San Remigio. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cabunga-an as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Remigio is a municipality comprising 45 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cabunga-an, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Antique, which contains 590 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cabunga-an ranks 441st by 2020 population. Barangay Cabunga-an is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
