Barangay Tamorong

Barangay Tamorong is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Santa Catalina, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tamorong had a population of 3,143. This made it the 1st largest of 9 barangays in Santa Catalina by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tamorong accounted for approximately 21.69% of the total population of Santa Catalina, which stood at 14,493 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,841 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,143 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Tamorong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Catalina is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tamorong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
