Barangay Matallucod

Barangay Matallucod is a very small barangay in the municipality of Sigay, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Matallucod had a population of 225. This made it the 6th largest of 7 barangays in Sigay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matallucod accounted for approximately 8.82% of the total population of Sigay, which stood at 2,552 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Matallucod changed from 278 to 225, a shift of -19.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Sigay. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Matallucod as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sigay is a municipality comprising 7 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matallucod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
