Barangay Piao

Situated in Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Piao is one of 52 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Piao had a population of 2,975. This made it the 7th largest of 52 barangays in Sindangan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Piao accounted for approximately 2.86% of the total population of Sindangan, which stood at 103,952 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Piao moving from 2,573 residents to 2,975 residents, an intercensal change of +15.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Piao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sindangan is a municipality comprising 52 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Piao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
