Barangay Maria Plana

Situated in Sogod, Southern Leyte, Barangay Maria Plana is one of 45 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Maria Plana had a population of 258. This made it the 37th largest of 45 barangays in Sogod by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maria Plana accounted for approximately 0.54% of the total population of Sogod, which stood at 47,552 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Maria Plana changed from 236 to 258, a shift of +9.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Sogod. Barangay Maria Plana is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sogod is a municipality comprising 45 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maria Plana, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
