Barangay Caoayan

Barangay Caoayan is a small barangay in the municipality of Sugpon, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Caoayan had a population of 734. This made it the 3rd largest of 6 barangays in Sugpon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Caoayan accounted for approximately 14.89% of the total population of Sugpon, which stood at 4,930 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 663 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 734 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Caoayan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
