Barangay Man-atong

Barangay Man-atong is a small barangay in the municipality of Suyo, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Man-atong had a population of 1,755. This made it the 2nd largest of 8 barangays in Suyo by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Man-atong accounted for approximately 16.30% of the total population of Suyo, which stood at 10,766 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Man-atong changed from 1,856 to 1,755, a shift of -5.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Suyo. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Man-atong as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Suyo is a municipality comprising 8 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Man-atong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
