Barangay Biga

Barangay Biga forms part of Tanza, a municipality in Cavite, and is classified as a very large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Biga had a population of 17,021. This made it the 5th largest of 41 barangays in Tanza by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Biga changed from 11,819 to 17,021, a shift of +44.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Tanza. Barangay Biga is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Tanza is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Biga, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cavite, which contains 829 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Biga ranks 50th by 2020 population. Barangay Biga is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
