Barangay Sumadel 1

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Sumadel 1 is one of the administrative divisions of Tinglayan in Kalinga, CAR, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sumadel 1 had a population of 522. This made it the 14th largest of 20 barangays in Tinglayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sumadel 1 accounted for approximately 3.97% of the total population of Tinglayan, which stood at 13,148 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 566 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 522 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -7.8%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Sumadel 1 is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tinglayan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sumadel 1, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Kalinga, which contains 153 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sumadel 1 ranks 127th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
