Barangay Capilihan

Situated in Virac, Catanduanes, Barangay Capilihan is one of 63 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Capilihan had a population of 1,529. This made it the 16th largest of 63 barangays in Virac by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Capilihan accounted for approximately 2.00% of the total population of Virac, which stood at 76,520 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,463 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,529 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +4.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Capilihan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Virac is a municipality comprising 63 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Capilihan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Catanduanes, which contains 315 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Capilihan ranks 36th by 2020 population. Catanduanes is classified as a 3rd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
