Situated in Virac, Catanduanes, Barangay Tubaon is one of 63 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

This made it the 24th largest of 63 barangays in Virac by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tubaon accounted for approximately 1.44% of the total population of Virac, which stood at 76,520 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Tubaon changed from 942 to 1,099, a shift of +16.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Virac. Barangay Tubaon is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
