La Union is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance.
Barangay officials in the Philippines are elected during the synchronised Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, per COMELEC Resolution No. 11191. All barangay officials including the Punong Barangay, Sangguniang Barangay Members (Kagawads), and Sangguniang Kabataan officials will be elected.
