Barangay Vacante

Situated in Alcala, Pangasinan, Barangay Vacante is one of 21 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Vacante had a population of 1,260. This made it the 19th largest of 21 barangays in Alcala by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Vacante accounted for approximately 2.58% of the total population of Alcala, which stood at 48,908 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Vacante moving from 1,127 residents to 1,260 residents, an intercensal change of +11.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Vacante as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcala is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Vacante, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
