Barangay Imelda

Barangay Imelda is a very small barangay in the municipality of Almagro, located in the province of Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Imelda had a population of 461. This made it the 8th largest of 23 barangays in Almagro by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Imelda accounted for approximately 4.97% of the total population of Almagro, which stood at 9,273 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Imelda moving from 369 residents to 461 residents, an intercensal change of +24.9%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Imelda is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Almagro is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Imelda, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
