Barangay Mitazan

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Mitazan is one of the administrative divisions of Aloran in Misamis Occidental, Northern Mindanao, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mitazan had a population of 468. This made it the 31st largest of 38 barangays in Aloran by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mitazan accounted for approximately 1.68% of the total population of Aloran, which stood at 27,934 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Mitazan moving from 667 residents to 468 residents, an intercensal change of -29.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Mitazan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aloran is a municipality comprising 38 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mitazan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mitazan ranks 405th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
